ARTIST BIO
Matthew Mielke is an American abstract expressionist artist whose work channels the raw immediacy of emotion through fluid movement, vivid color, and unrestrained physicality. Working primarily with acrylic paint, Mielke draws from techniques rooted in action painting, gestural abstraction, color field painting, automatism, and the broader language of fluid and liquid art. His practice embraces spontaneity, intuition, and the subconscious, resulting in all-over compositions that erupt with psychedelic, fantasy-infused, and multidimensional motifs often described as “serotonin-inducing.”
Each painting represents a precise emotional moment—a way of translating inner experience into color, motion, and form. Mielke began creating art as a form of personal therapy, using the canvas to escape thought loops, quiet the mind, and express states of being that defy words. This mindset continues to inform his work today, leading to pieces that feel immersive, meditative, and vibrationally alive.
